Established in 1927, Cats Protection is the UK’s leading feline welfare charity. Last year they helped over 205,000 cats and kittens through their national network of over 250 volunteer-run branches and 31 adoption centres.
InForm Web Design were brought in to launch this leading UK welfare charity on the web. The pre-design stage was extensive involving Marketing Strategy, Branding and User Experience Design (UX) exercises with all departments at the head office in Horsham. ‘Cats Online’ was the result and it immediately received worldwide recognition for the quality of the site, winning a phenomenal number of awards but most importantly, achieving its aim of raising the profile of Cats Protection.
We are delighted with Cats Online. The recent awards are a testimony to the quality of work produced by InForm. We are
especially pleased with the level of service and commitment provided, and as a charity, the value for money those services represent.
There is no doubt that Cats Online has been an outstanding success with an incredible number of visits to the site from around the world. It has excited considerable attention and has done much to help raise our profile. The site has had a phenomenal number of awards which reflects tremendous credit on the efforts of InForm.
A major aim of the site was to promote the Kitten Club to under 14’s. This was a lot of fun for InForm as it involved creating interactive games, puzzles and competitions. After 12 months, Cats Online had grown membership of the Kitten Club by nearly 30% – an incredible achievement for a Club that had been running over 30 years.
As well as the Kitten Club, the site included a huge Help & Advice section, an online shop, latest news, membership subscription, cat adoption section, E-Newsletters and links to their 250 UK branches. InForm also developed a Branch Template to enable each Branch to have their own presence on the web.
Cats Online gained a substantial number of awards, with the top accolade being Runner-up ‘Best Non-commercial Web Site’ in the UK Web Awards held at BAFTA.
The judges comments about Cats Online as written in .net magazine were:
I love The Cats Protection site simply because it’s idiosyncratic, it’s wacky and it’s beautiful. They’ve taken a lot of care over the photography and technically it’s a pretty high-level site.
A fun and informative site that you’ll keep coming back to. InForm Web Design have produced a top quality site that competes with the biggest brand sites.
The Cats Protection website is a non-commercial site but is designed with all the professionalism and care of the very top commercial sites.
