Motorola BCS EMEA approached us to develop a microsite to launch their Broadband Cable Modem, SURFboard, in Europe. This work came on the back of successfully launching their BCS EMEA corporate website to much acclaim in the Cable and Satellite press.
It seems hard to believe now, but when we launched InForm back in 1996, the hardest part of our job was selling the concept of having a website to businesses! At the time, internet connection was predominantly by dial-up modems. Larger organisations had the luxury of T1 lines or ISDN but these were priced in excess of £1000/month. It was the days of that familiar modem dial-up tone - a sound that todays generation will not understand. It was the noise of being part of the beginning of the Internet (there's a great website called The Museum of Endangered Sounds where you can relive all the sounds of this period).
It would be nice to re-visit the countless companies that closed the door in our faces saying "the internet was a fad and had no future!". Truth-be-told, even we couldn't have predicted the true extent to which the web would change our lives. The moment of realisation came to us in August 1999, when Motorola's SURFboard landed on our desk. One hundred times faster than dial-up modems, always on, no dial-up charges and simple connection to an existing cable box - it truely was like something out of the future! The rest is history - as they say. It did take a further 4 years before broadband began true roll-out in the UK - but Motorola played a big part in revolutionising the internet and we were were thrilled to be part of it.
We have been working with InForm Web Design for several years now.
